REFERENCE TOWARDS THE POSTER

When creating the poster I thought about Julie Mehretu work and how she said - "think about using your drawing tools and how you make marks".

Julie Mehretu's works engage her audience in a dynamic visual expression of contemporary experience, a study and interpretation of social behavior and the psychogeography of space.

Mehretu’ s practice in painting, drawing and printmaking equally assert the role of art to provoke thought and reflection, and express the contemporary condition of the individual and society. Further linking into the task I was asked to make - Draw a diagram of society.

Most recently her paintings have incorporated photographic images from broadcast media which depict conflict, injustice, and social unrest. This further links to my overall themes of real life and everyday objects and problems that I have incorporated into my work.
